It is a x ray procedure used to look for patency of fallopian tubes. In this, contrast is instilled via a thin catheter into uterine cavity and x ray is taken to look for the free spillage of dye into abdominal cavity. It also helps in diagnosing certain uterine anomalies like unicornuate uterus, uterine didelphis and bicornuate uterus.
